Veg Out: Zama for Lunch

There is a  veggie roll that tastes like a faux cheesesteak. It's called the To-Philly and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. It's on the menu at Zama and it's so good I forgive anyone I ever made fun of for ordering a Philadelphia Roll. It has forever seemed odd to me that cream cheese be used in sushi. I get it now.

This roll is topped with tofu (ask for it with multigrain rice), little cubes of cream cheese, avocado, and cucumber. And the taste? I swear it's like a seitan cheesesteak.

I had to try the BLT (Broccoli, lettuce, tomato) Roll while I was at it - sandwich flavor with sushi style. Lettuce is a little tough to maneuver with chopsticks, but the crunch of the broccoli and the juicy tomato (again with multigrain rice) was a very balanced combo.

I wanted to take on the Red Shiso Veggie Roll but saved that for another time. Besides, it didn't have sandwich origins.

that looks AWESOME. I love those tofu skins! If you're feeling adventurous, they sell them frozen at the Vietnamese market on 11 and Washington.
