Spice World.

It was a chili and gingerbread kind of day. A His and Hers Effort.

He tackled a giant pot of black & white bean chili that had a major kick. He was looking for a recipe with Liquid Smoke and he found one.  It was hotter than Ekta thanks to two whole Thai red chiles. He used agave and Earth Balance.

I consulted with the Oh She Glows Pumpkin Gingerbread recipe, made with chia seeds. I made the change of subbing agave syrup for the 3/4 cup sugar that the recipe called for. I used 1/2 cup agave and cut out 1 tbsp maple and 1 tbsp oil and reduced the baking time from 50 - 60 minutes to 45 minutes. The Agave Fairy approved.

It hit the right notes - moist and devilish. I would double the ginger next time because I was missing that Ginger Spice.

I skipped the frosting because I wanted Purely Decadent Coconut Milk Vanilla Bean Ice Cream.

It looks well-behaved.

But one scoop turned into several.

Then we sent Josh off with a large hunk of gingerbread for a friend. It's even more luscious today. Two winning recipes. Enough spice to heat up any bland mid-week.

Both of these were HUGE wins. Spiced up my lunch today as well... If this is a preview of what fall/winter has in store for us, I am super excited!
