Seduced: The Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookie at One Shot.

I don't eat vegan chocolate chip cookies.
I don't bake vegan chocolate chip cookies.
From experience, they are never as good as I want them to be.

Then, an unexpected thing happened. One Shot Coffee, my coffee fix away from home, made a batch of Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookies as a special, and they looked so scandalous from the case that I walked out with two, one for me and one for the husband. My confidence level in One Shot is high - especially since they have re-opened with a new kitchen cranking out daily goodness.

I fully expected that I'd end up taking one bite and then stuffing it back into the white paper bag emblazoned with the One Shot logo. I'm that much of a Cookie Hard-ass.

It sure looked pretty, chocolate bulging from all the right places.

It even smelled the part.

Sea salted. Sandy-colored. Shards of  black chocolate glass sticking out. One bite in and a thin sheet of chocolate threatened to cut into me pleasurably and deeply. TMI.

If you like buttery-tasting cookies with a salty edge and touch of crispness, then you have a window of opportunity that may not last long. Forget vegan. Everyone should take a moment with one. Pair it with a glass of winter ale.

And for the record,

I still don't bake vegan chocolate chip cookies.

I had one of these on Monday and it had that distinct crispy-buttery taste of grandma's (or in my case, grandpa's) homemade cookies. Maybe they used vegetable shortening. Combined with a mexican mocha, I was zipping around all afternoon.

Exactly...each bite felt familiar and classic. I am so used to vegan cookies being too soft and mushy.
