Everyone has their own margarita recipe. Especially around Cinco de Mayo. Suddenly we're adding all kinds of fruit and syrup and blending stuff and trying to make a special margarita or a healthier, low-calorie drink, but what is wrong with the original? Nothing. It's not really that bad for you. It's low calorie if you use a proper-sized glass. And it tastes better than everything else. Plus, it's so easy...
Rather than vent further, I'll just show you.
The Original Margarita
1.5 oz tequila (100% agave, but no need to go too $$)
1 oz Cointreau
1/2 oz lime
ice
Shake and double strain.
*Garnish with a wedge of lime.
*Salt is optional, but use sea salt instead of table salt. Salt will counteract bitterness of the lime. Keep it to 1/8th inch rim.
*No sugar. It's already a sweet drink.
